I completed my tertiary education in Johannesburg and graduated with diplomas in International Marketing, Public Relations and Project Management (with three distinctions). I worked in a Corporate Marketing environment for several years, before studying photography part-time for 2 years. After graduating, I turned our large river facing property into an intimate garden wedding venue (Willow Place) in Johannesburg, complete with reception lapa, pool bar and honeymoon suite.
I thoroughly enjoyed managing my own wedding venue, but after 4 years, I accepted an incredible position and package as Conference and Event Manager at Montecasino Corporate Events, where for the next 2 years I worked with a dynamic team of ladies, headed by Lynn Baker, where we planned, implemented and managed large conferences and gala events in our conference centre, Ill Grandé (a 500 seated auditorium), The Ballroom, as well as other VIP and celebrity functions at the impressive Teatro Theatre at Montecasino Square and Café Vacca Matta.
After two unforgettable years at Montecasino, I resigned and my husband and I decided to move back to East London (my hometown), with our children, James and Ashlin. I put my Wedding Planning business on hold, to focus on photography and my studio full time.
In August 2013, I founded another exciting business, Photo Backdrops. I custom design, import and supply digital printed themed backdrops for photographers throughout South Africa and Namibia. Photo Backdrops compliments my studio work perfectly as I am able to offer all my clients a unique experience, where I can take them from a normal studio setting to a different themed location, all under one roof.
I have been photographing weddings and families since 2001 and understand that your wedding day should be a memorable occasion. Weddings create an opportunity for me to capture and document a celebration of love between two people and their unique families coming together. In 2015 I made the decision to exclusively photograph African Western weddings in the Eastern Cape (East London) and surrounding areas such as Chintsa, Hogsback, Port Alfred, Queenstown, Bushaman’s River, Morgans Bay and the Kei area. My photos will reflect your story as it actually happened on your day, including the emotions, the hugs, the laughter, excitement, tears and everything in between. Your photos will be a reflection of your personalities with images consisting of candid, naturally posed, spontaneous and creative moments – a unique story for you to look back on and treasure for years to come.
I am based in East London in the Eastern Cape. Some of my African Weddings have included Ghanian, Tswane, isiXhosa, Sotho, Zulu & Nigerian weddings. I enjoy learning about the rich and diverse cultures, traditions and customs of African Weddings. I love my job – I’ve travelled to the most beautiful, remote and unspoiled rural destinations in the Transkei. The road trips to my clients’ childhood homes and villages have been enriching and inspiring. I feel truly blessed to have met so many incredible people along the way.
Photography is my passion. I have a full time studio in Beacon Bay, East London and my photography includes newborns, engagements, maternity and of course, African Weddings.
I would love to hear from you and thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
