I planned this special “downtown urban” street shoot for Andile (aka Ace) and Lerato’s engagement for weeks and was relieved that after a long week of rain, we could enjoy a sunny day for their e-session. Our town has such stunning buildings, full of character and old charm. I love architecture and anything rustic. Shapes and lines make photographs look more interesting. I did a bit of scouting before hand and we also explored more on the day, and discovered several decrepit, but beautiful old buildings to use as backdrops. Some of these old buildings had been restored with a coat of colorful paint, giving them a new lease of life, which I took advantage of. I deliberately edited some photos with more contrast and saturation and I also used one of my favorite Lightroom presets, giving a 50’s feel. Lerato and Ace co-ordinated their outfits and planned their three looks perfectly to fit the feel and look I wanted to create. I am photographing their wedding at Inkwenkwezi in November and cannot wait to be a part of their special day. They make a perfect couple, carefree, playful and so in love. Thanks to Nandi for offering to assist and look out for the tsotsie’s…. I had to laugh a few times because Ace looked a little nervous and kept looking over his shoulder but soon enough he relaxed and we all enjoyed a fun morning together. At one point we thought we would be arrested when the cops announced on their loud speaker that we needed to vacate a certain area, but after a smile and some waves they allowed me to capture a few more pics. I had a most enjoyable morning with two beautiful people.
