I captured Guy and Zinzi’s exquisite white wedding at Gonubie Manor in the Eastern Cape last year (photos to follow) and we planned a special shoot of them in their matching traditional wedding attire. It was wonderful seeing them again, they are one of my dearest bridal couples ever, and I always enjoy my time with them. Guy is from The Democratic Country of Congo and has a career in aviation, so he is always jetsetting around the world on business. Finally this day came, and I am so happy with the end results. I asked Guy to tell me how he and his stunning wife met, and here is his story in his own words
“I used to tell people that Valentine’s Day was the same as any other day of the week to me. I didn’t think much of it, because it didn’t pertain to me. I resigned to the fact that I was simply unlucky in love, but rich in other areas of life. So the best recourse was to enjoy my life.
Till one Wednesday evening of 05 February 2014 when I was invited by a friend to his wife’s birthday, soon after I had returned from a business trip overseas. I first met my now wife at that dinner without knowing that the person who was just sitting across me on the table will be my wife…. and then we met again few days later at a braai, thats where we first had a conversation. I was blown away by her wisdom, intelligence and above all, her smile with dimples on her cheeks. At the end of the evening we exchanged phone numbers….You won’t believe that our first date was….on Valentine’s day, even though when I asked her out, I did not realize that it was Valentine’s day. I had no choice than to buy flowers…..A year later, I proposed to her during a trip we had to St. Lucia (Kwazulu Natal) and this time it was on my birthday …..And here we go…that’s how our love journey started….”
