I looked so forward to Mvu and Phumla’s wedding day, all the way in Ntabankulu, about 400km from East London in one of the most beautiful, unspoiled landscapes in the Transkei. Ntabankulu is a small, rustic and friendly little town, where everyone greets you with a welcoming smile and wave. Phumla took me to the most picturesque valley for her bridal shoot with hubby, Mvu and their bridal party. The setting was beautiful… rolling hills, a dam and pine forests in the distance. What a lucky lady she was to have this incredible environment to grown up in and enjoy as a child. Thank you Phumla and Mvu for choosing me to capture your wedding, and to your family and parents for their warm hospitality and kindness shown to me throughout the day.
Here is their love story in Mvuyisi’s words…. “It was a colleague’s birthday in 2013 in East London (Eastern Cape). My wife arrived with a friend of hers. Her friend walked back to the car and Phumla was left standing alone. I thought to myself, “there is no way such a beautiful lady can stand alone”. I walked over to chat with her. I can clearly recall, as I was walking towards her Phumla said to me “You are so tall” and I said to her “Your’e also tall”. I guess that was our ice breaker. We chatted for a while, exchanged phone numbers and discovered that we both lived in the same suburb. The rest is history…What I’ve learnt is never give up on someone that you can’t go a day without thinking about”.
